Get Well Soon Andrew Macdonald

A player that has been the scape-goat for the past several years and has been getting consistently shit on is Andrew Macdonald. Maconald has caught the ire of the Philadelphia fan base much like Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher did for the Eagles, Ruben Amaro for the Phillies, and every player for the Sixers for the past 5 years.

Every game it is constantly talked about how highly regarded A-Mac is as a player and as a leaders, qualities demonstrated behind closed doors that us fans do not really see. Lets not forget, he was voted to wear the “A” for a reason. Macdonald is not a superstar by any means but his intangibles are what makes him such an important player for us. I am on board with the people that want to see Morin, I know that dude is a freak of nature, but it is tough playing him over someone the players think so highly of (WITH A-MAC OUT I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHY MORIN ISN’T CALLED UP.)

A lot of that hate is due to him not playing up to the 6 year, $30 million contract he signed 2 years ago, which is understandable. Consider this, Mac is out 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury and in the 2 games since, the Flyers allowed 6 goals against Anaheim, and 5 goals against Ottawa. Lets put that in to perspective, in the 8 games this season the Flyers had Macdonald in the lineup, we allowed at least 5 goals only once, in a 6-5 loss against the Predators the 4th game. Macdonald is missed, contrary to what half of Philadelphia says. I have a lot of respect for someone who continues to sacrifice his body to block shots as often as he does considering the fact there has been nothing but trade rumors since he signed the extension.

Right now, Brandon Manning is not cutting it. If the defense has another poor showing today against Toronto then Hakstol and Hextall may not have a choice but to call up Morin and see what the kid has. The Flyers right now are sitting at 5-5, which is not a bad place to be at 10 games in, we can not let this injury sink the team, someone needs to step up.
