We Forget What it is Like to Win

Philadelphia is a winners town, and if it doesn’t change soon, the city might riot. We are used to winning, and the fact that every team in Philadelphia is a disappointment right now, it’s sad.

Yes Philadelphia is a big market for sports, yes Philadelphia has a tough fan base, and are tough on the players who play here, and the players who visit here, it is because that’s how we are. You come to Philadelphia expecting to win, and if that doesn’t happen, well you get the boot out of town. We are a city with nothing, but passion for our sports teams. The Phillies for example had the biggest stretch of seasons where all we did was win. They won a World Series in 2008 for the first time in 28 years. Then came the losing seasons, where no one in this city would have thought it was going to happen. The Flyers made it to the Stanley Cup Final in 2010, and lost in 6 games, but gave this city hope, and have done nothing but disappoint ever since then. The Eagles, haven’t won a playoff game since 2009! EIGHT YEARS AGO, ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????? The Sixers, might be the worst sports team in Philadelphia, if we are being real. They don’t know how to win, they tank nearly every year, and can barely draft. Yes they have drafted some high end prospects such as, Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, and Nerlens Noel, who isn’t on the team anymore. Three of the four players drafted since 2013 have been hurt, and missed either a full season, or part of a season. Maybe they need to change how they draft? Maybe instead of going with best available, draft for needs? I don’t know maybe make some sort of change.

You have to wonder, if the owners of these team just sit there, and think man how can we become worse, mediocre, or even a disgrace? I know for a fact that the Flyers owners surely don’t do that, because Ed Snider bled orange, and black and would do anything for the team. Jeffrey Lurie surly wants to bring a Super Bowl to Philadelphia, which can happen in the next few season. The Sixers, and Phillies on the other hand, who knows with them honestly. Just seems both franchises want to be mediocre. Just making the playoffs would be good enough. Just having a winning record, and not making playoffs is good enough. Instead of having such a mindset, change it, and MAKE PHILADELPHIA A WINNER’S CITY AGAIN.
