Embiid is the hero Philadelphia Deserves

Once upon a time, the Philadelphia 76’ers were a fan base divided, you were either pro Sam Hinkie or against him. Now, after years of losing and years of top draft picks, the time to win has finally arrived.  Winners of 8 of the last 10 games, the Sixers are the hottest team in basketball, all without Ben Simmons.

The foundation for the future began in 2014 when the team took a chance on a 7’0 center who did not pick up a basketball until age 15, who was already having serious injury concerns. After being a red shirt rookie, and then a red shirt sophomore, the chances of Embiid making an impact started looking slimmer and slimmer. Finally the 2016-2017 season starts to roll around and the long awaited debut looks to finally happen. After playing through the preseason, Joel was named to the starting rotation for the October 26th season opener, he took off quickly from the gate and never looked back.

With severe minute restrictions, he averages just under a double-double which is remarkable looking at the circumstances. Finally, the man so often perceived to be a bust by fans, members of the media, and even some fellow colleagues, has finally restored the winning we desperately need. This city is rallying around a team that now  may be able to sneak in to the post season.

Joel Embiid was in the right place at the right time, and this city should be forever grateful he fell to the third pick. We are tailor-made for each other. The personality, the work ethic, even the social media presence he brings, is absolutely awesome. This team is playing like a TEAM, this group of young men are fun to watch. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.
